Founded in 1896, and resident on its current site since 1912, the Hessle Lawn Tennis Club can proudly boast to being the oldest in the Hull & District Tennis League. Our facilities are, however, right up to date. We have six all weather synthetic courts and one hard court. The Club prides itself on being a friendly and welcoming club for players of all ages and abilities and is fortunate to have a very pleasant clubhouse and bar.

It currently runs 14 teams in the local Hull and District Tennis League (6 men’s, 4 ladies and 4 mixed) and throughout the year runs regular tournaments – singles, doubles and American for seniors and singles, doubles and fun events for the juniors.

Two courts benefit from state-of-the-art LED floodlights, making play possible until 10pm. The club is therefore very active throughout the year.

A range of social events take place, perhaps the most popular of which are the monthly quizzes. We also have a table-tennis table room, and a regular boules group, with its own competitions.

The club is fully accredited to the Lawn Tennis Association, thereby benefitting from the national body’s quality assurance and safe-guarding structures, as well as receiving an annual allowance of Wimbledon tickets. Anyone wishing to consider joining the club is very welcome to get in touch. Don’t let any worries about your level of fitness be of concern – we do have a defibrillator on site!
